Our Journey

START 

Our spelling journey started when Aryahi was in 5th grade. Our school allows students to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee only from 5th grade onwards. Aryahi went on to represent Montgomery at the regional level and was always placed in the top 5 consistently. Getting inspiration from his sister, Atharv started participating in Spelling Bee competitions as well. During his 5th grade and 7th grade regionals, he was the runner-up. At the national level, he tied for 76th place in his 6th grade and tied for 57th place in his 8th grade. 

SUCCESS 

Owing to the success at various levels, we pioneered the Spelling Bee Club in Montgomery, NJ. We teach language patterns, roots, and Spelling Bee competition skills to students aged 10-14 (5th grade to 8th grade). The class started in the Fall of 2019 and is continuing till date. We offered the class to students in India who are between the ages 11-14. Because English is not their first language, teaching students in India requires a little bit more attention than it does in the United States. We try to assess their understanding periodically and tailor the course material to fit their needs. 

GIVING BACK 

We also conduct the spelling bee at Montgomery Lower Middle School, be it in the capacity of running the preliminaries, pronouncing, and being a co-judge at the school finals. We love teaching spelling and conducting spelling bees. Now that we are older and cannot compete anymore, teaching and conducting spelling bees gives us an outlet in which we can share our passion.
